How to use the Messenger in Connect

The Messenger

Info
The Messenger module allows you to communicate instantly with staff members across your agency. You can view existing chats, search for contacts, start new conversations, and send messages or attachments—all from one unified interface.

1. Navigate to the Messenger Screen

From the left sidebar, click the Messenger icon (chat bubble symbol).
This opens your main chat area where you can access all conversations.

2. View Your Chat Lists

On the left panel, you will see two sections:
  1. Favorites– pinned chats for quick access
  2. Chats– all your recent conversations

This layout helps you quickly locate ongoing or high-priority discussions.

3. Search for a Chat or User

Use the search bar at the top of the Messenger list to find any chat or staff member.
Searching saves time and helps you reach the right person instantly.

4. Open a Conversation

Click any contact from the list to open the chat window on the right side.
Here you will see:
User name and profile initials
Email address
Their agency name
Status indicators (mark green)

This information helps you confirm you are chatting with the correct person.

5. Send a Message

At the bottom of the chat panel, type your message into the text box.
You may also use the toolbar to:

Bold, Italic, underline, or format text
Create bullet lists
Add code formatting

This ensures your conversations are clear and well-structured.

6. Share Files or Attachments
Use the paperclip icon to upload documents, images, or files.

Sharing attachments helps support operational tasks and case discussions.

7. Send Voice Messages

Click the microphone icon to record and send an audio message.

This is helpful when you need to communicate quickly without typing.

8. Start an Instant Meeting

Use the Meet Now option on the top-right to start a video meeting with the selected user.

This feature enables fast escalation from chat to real-time discussion whenever needed.

Notes
Notes & Limitations

Attachments may have file size limits depending on admin settings.
Chat history sync depends on your internet connection.
Users who are offline may respond later depending on their availability.
The Popout Chat feature opens Messenger in a separate window for multitasking.

1. Can I delete a chat?

At present, users can close chats from the list, but deleting entire conversation history depends on admin policies.

2. How do I favorite a chat?

Click the star icon next to a conversation to mark it as a favorite.

3. Why can’t I see messages from a user?

They may have been removed from your agency or your permissions may have changed.

4. Can I send multiple files at once?

Yes, Messenger supports multi-file uploads as long as each file meets size requirements.
